Anxious thoughts

I’ve been having anxious thoughts lately. Okay, I’ve been downright worried over several things. My mind goes from one problem to the next. There have even been nights that I can hardly go to sleep – which is so unlike me! (I’m usually asleep when my head hits the pillow.) I was actually a little disappointed in my devotions today. That sounds awful, but it just wasn’t what I was looking for at all and I really didn’t know where to look. So I went on with my day trying to keep my thoughts on good things. Then, I visited Sue’s blog. It was just what I needed! Here’s what she had to say. Well, the Bible really, but it took her to remind me of it! :) “And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field….Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field,…..shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?….Therefore take not thought……for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things,..”. Then, the clincher……Matt. 6:33……”But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Thanks, Sue!)

Then, I turned on the radio and right then the guy was quoting the scripture from Isaiah, I believe it is – “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee”. That was all that I needed! I realized I had been focusing on the wrong things. If I keep my mind ON Him and my trust IN Him, there is no need for worrying!

  • Those are wonderful verses to share! It is so easy to become “anxious” in today’s lifestyle!

  • I can totally relate. One thing I try to do that helps (I can’t remember what book I got it out of–maybe Big Girls Don’t Whine) is not to worry over the things I can’t control or do anything about.. It has taken a lot of conscious effort, but it really works.

Hey, I love the new look, by the way!

  • Isn’t it exciting though, how God helps us work through those times of worry and the things He brings our way to encourage us? So glad the day turned out better for you.
